Oh man this is influenced by Maki’s post, because I saw “PETA sucks” at the bottom and I’ve become very much educated about that group.  So now you have to listen to me rant, and maybe learn a thing or two.

PETA stands for animal liberation, which means no farms, zoos, milk/dairy, test animals, service animals, police dogs, or pets.  They believe pets are slaves, and have even recently sued Sea World on the basis that their orcas are slaves and need to be set free. Needless to say the suit was thrown out.  Of course they also believe that the survival of domestic animals hinges on human involvement (hence: domestication), so their solution for freeing these animals is to breed them out of existence.

Though it’s impossible for a single group to completely eradicate entire species without eliminating existing ones.  So the LOGICAL solution is to “humanely” kill these animals for their own good.

Protecting them from slavery and all.

Yeah, PETA kills a lot of animals.  Somewhere around 97% of the animals that come into their shelters, and that doesn’t even count the ones who are killed upon pick up by PETA employees.

Their bullshit excuse is that the animals are beyond saving or are surrendered for euthanization. This is not true.  A few years back two PETA employees were arrested after dumping the bodies of dozens of animals into dumpsters (they were charged with illegal dumping).  It came to light that these were healthy animals that PETA had recently picked up from another community shelter with promises of finding them new homes.  The person who turned the animals over to PETA testified about the health of the animals, and even admitted he had turned his own dog over, hoping PETA would find it a better home since he and his family were always so busy.  This dog DID make it back to PETA headquarters, but was put down shortly after.  Just another number in the PETA books.

There’s also the fact that a good chunk of PETA’s money, much of it donation and an average of 32 million dollars, goes to things like the law defense of accused eco-terrorists.  You know, those people who blow up labs and vandalize buildings?  Yeah, them.  PETA is a huge supporter of domestic terrorism in the name of animal liberation, and if you donate to them expect a few pennies to go there.

Or maybe your money will go to the expensive superbowl ads (that often don’t get aired) or one of their many other ad and publicity stunt campaigns.  

Actually, less than 1% of PETA’s funds go to HELPING animals.  Mull that one over for a bit.

You see, PETA isn’t about helping the animals they’re about hurting the people.  Making you into a vegan is more important than helping the animals in need right now.  

THATS where you donations are going.

To suing sea world for something they know will never pass because it gets them publicity,

To mocking domestic abuse in their recent commercial.

To falsely claiming that illnesses like Asperger syndrome are brought on because you’re not a vegan (and paying for a fake group of “scientists and doctors” to back it and make it look legitimate).

To euthanizing healthy animals in the name of protecting them from abuse.

To funding eco-terrorism against the enemies of animal liberation.

Of course PETA loves to lie.  They hide the truth behind smiles and blatant lies.  Don’t expect them to come clean.  One PETA celeb started getting messages from fans about the truth behind PETA, and being the intelligent woman she is, asked them.  PETA gave her some bullshit excuse and she came back crying to “stop making things up and being mean to PETA!”

And let me now move on to Ingrid Newkirk.

Oh Ingrid Newkirk.

Ms. Newkirk is the founder of PETA. Here’s a few facts about Ingrid Newkirk:

For years she euthanized animals at the shelter she worked at to protect them. Then she went on to form the WONDERFUL group we now know as PETA.

She’s sterilized, because she opposes giving birth.

She hates pit bulls because she was bitten by one once, and actually started a campaign to have all pit bulls put down.

Her will includes having her own flesh cooked at a barbecue in public, to disgust people out of eating meat.

Her will also includes having various body parts sent to her enemies.

So do me a favor and think twice before donating to PETA.  Instead give to an organization that does good things to animals, ‘kay?

This is what happens when one of my roommates is an anti-PETA activist.

Oh yeah, does anyone else remember that ridiculous “Mario skins tanooki and wears his fur” campaign that PETA had a while back?  Total idiocy and ignorance of Japanese culture right there.
